Spend half a day learning traditional falconry techniques
Spend a half day learning all about birds of prey. This hands on course offers you the chance to spend time with an experienced falconer who will share their knowledge of the history of falconry, owning and flying birds of prey and the characteristics of different species. You will be shown how to pick up and carry a hawk, and will move on to the early stages of training the bird to fly to fist.

Your experience starts with an introduction to the history of falconry as a sport, the legalities of owning and flying a bird of prey and the characteristics of different types of bird of prey. After that, you will learn about the basic equipment used and will be shown how to pick up and hold a hawk safely. Once you have mastered the basic handling of the bird you will learn how to fly the bird to a gloved fist. Finally there will be plenty of photo opportunities to capture a truly unforgettable experience. You will be at there for approximately 3 hours in total.
Notes
Your voucher is valid for 10 months. You are free to arrange a date with the falconry centre, using the booking details provided. All equipment will be provided for your experience, but it is advisable to bring a pair of wellington boots with you and wear suitable outdoor clothing for the time of year. Please note that the species of bird flown will be dependent on the time of year. The minimum age for this experience is 10 years old.
